we need your help!
Kayleigh Day, Community Health Educator with Monroe County Health Department, and the chair of the 2021 Compass Community Needs Assessment, has asked our help in bringing forward valuable information on the diverse and underrepresented needs for the people living in our communities in the Coulee Region.
This information will be collected through the distribution of the Compass Now Survey. This survey is anonymous which allows you to freely express your perspective on the issues affecting our communities and in identify the most challenging community health needs affecting those you see happening around you.
From all the responses received, the 2021 Compass Community Needs Report is created. This Compass report is used by committees such as the La Crosse County Homeless Collaborative or agency's like Families First or Couleecap in shaping valuable services moving forward to address needs identified.
It is also valuable for organizations such as United Way to make important local funding decisions about the type of programming and services they invest in that directly impact your family and the community you live in. This survey is a great opportunity to share your insights, concerns and the issues you see affecting you, your family, your neighbors, your friends, and everyone living in the Coulee Region.
Give a voice to those who may not be able to speak for themselves and help us as agencies make sure we have the information necessary as decision and policy makers to ensure programs and services are made as inclusive and equitable to all. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey!
Families First until further notice is not meeting with clients face to face but will have appointments over the phone and answer questions by email.
Please call ahead for paperwork pick ups and drop offs so that we can make arrangements. Clients are encouraged to leave voice mails and calls will be returned as soon as possible. Call us at 608-374-4141.

Homelessness, is a state in which an individual or family lacks a fixed, regular & adequate nighttime residence.
Over 50% of the children in Monroe County school districts live in a household in which inadequate income makes them eligible for free or reduced breakfast & lunch while in school. For some children, these will be the only adequate meals of the day they will receive.
It is legal for households to be evicted in the middle of winter; in sub-zero temperatures, for non-payment of rent. Whether children are in the house or not has no bearing in the process.
Water & sewer services can also be disconnected at any time of the year, for non-payment of this utility fee.
Monroe County has no shelter facility for homeless single persons or families.
